The page that you are looking for could not be found. I recently switched to a new content management platform so some of the old links no longer work. Below are the search results based on the link that you clicked on.

Site Updates

I have fixed the sorting issue with the RSS feed, now it should be in soonest to latest order. Additionally I have made the site XHTML compatible. You might find that a few pages are not compatible; that is mainly due to the imported HTML from the previous website. All the standard elements on the pages should be XHTML compliant.

Site Design Changed

New, simple site design

As part of my rebranding I have redesigned my personal website. As you might have noticed a little while back, I changed my twitter name from “@thebitguru” to @farhanahmad. This redesign is the next step as I become Farhan Ahmad from thebitguru 🙂 Why? you ask. Well, it is a little weird when you go to events and people recognize thebitguru, but don’t know who “Farhan Ahmad” is. I will still keep the domain name, but my name will be more prominent from now on.

For now I went for a simple design, no fancy graphics. My goal is to make minor changes as I get more time. Also, I am now publishing my twitter updates on the site.

Hopefully you like what you see 🙂 Enjoy!

Tesla Autopilot’s Odd Behaviors

I couldn’t resist the Tesla fever and finally took the plunge a few months ago. Since then, I have been absorbing the Tesla ecosystem and observing everything that it has to offer. I have been especially intrigued by the Autosteer (part of “Autopilot”) functionality because that’s one of the game-changing features that Tesla is offering. Here are a few odd behaviors of the system that I have observed so far. Note that most of the Autopilot features are currently in Beta, so I am always careful when using it, and I am also expecting that Tesla will work out these kinks as it continues to improve the system.

Getting Samsung Update to work on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Tablet showing an update being applied

I recently bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The very first thing that I generally do with my devices is to check for any firmware/software updates. So, that’s what I did with the tablet… Settings > About > System Updates > Update…and to my surprise I got an error claiming “Wrong Password.” So, I went to the Samsung website and was able to login to my account there with the same password. I still reset my password and tried again with the same result. Afterwards, I tried a few different passwords and finally found one where I started getting another error “Processing failed.”

After some searching I found out that the tab connects to a service that has a separate account than the online account, and further searching revealed that I have to manually add the Samsung account before this will start working.

So, here is what you have to do.

Settings > Accounts & Sync > Add Account > Samsung account

Once you add the Samsung account through the above menu then go back and try updating. It should work now. Enjoy!

Importing a Trusted Root Certification Authority in Windows Vista

Due to the new security in Windows Vista, it is fairly tough to install trusted root certificates. Add to this the fact that the Microsoft Active Directory Certification Services website does not work with Windows Vista without a server update and you will have a fun time trying to install a root certification authority in Vista. So, if you either have to install a trusted root certificate or if you need to get a certificate from the Active Directory Certification Services site hosted on a server which does not have the update installed then this is the article for you.
