I had a need for migrating a Linode virtual machine to my local machine. I use Parallels Desktop 10 instead of VMWare Fusion because that’s what the corporate IT officially supports. My search revealed two useful links to do this conversion, and this is my attempt at consolidating the information into one single guide with some adjustments to streamline this process. This article assumes a Ubuntu virtual machine, but you can adjust the commands appropriately for whatever distribution you are using.
